Who is Eligible for Early Check
New babies around the country receive standard screening tests for rare health conditions.
Early Check is a special opportunity for babies born in North Carolina to get two more screening tests. And it’s free.
You can join Early Check when you:
Are more than 12 weeks pregnant, or
Had a baby less than 4 weeks ago.
Taking part in Early Check is up to you.

Answer a few questions to find out.
- If you’re still in the first trimester (12 weeks) of your pregnancy, you can sign up for Early Check later in your pregnancy. Give us your email if you want us to send you a reminder to sign up:
- If you’re not eligible because your baby is older than 4 weeks, you can still help us make a difference.
- Share this website with your family and friends. Encourage other new and expecting moms in North Carolina to sign up.
- Each parent that takes part in the study moves us one step closer to better treatments and support services for these rare health conditions.
